Introducing Conversion Analytics for PodCards

Understanding how effectively you are marketing to new listeners has typically involved a lot of assumptions and guess work. On one hand, you are crafting your posts, encouraging guests to share their episode, and staying active on your social accounts. On the other hand you are staring at your analytics dashboard, reading the tea-leaves, and trying to decide if any of this work is actually reflected in your listens.

PodCards is now able to directly measure how many people you are converting into listeners

This is no way to run a marketing strategy and as of today, you no longer have to. PodCards is now able to directly measure how many people you are converting into listeners. Every time you share your PodCard and a visitor ends up listening to your show in their podcast app, you'll know about it. This is a game changer for podcasters and podcast marketers because now you can use real data to improve your audience development strategies, and show real results.

So how does this all work? PodCards is leveraging prefix technology, something many of you are already familiar with. Put simply, a prefix is just a URL you prepend to your episode enclosure that allows 3rd parties to log and analyze your listener requests before they are passed on to your hosting provider. This enables platforms like Chartable and Podtrac to augment your listener analytics. Instead of replacing your podcast host analytics, the PodCards prefix is simply there to match visitors to your PodCard with listeners on your podcast. Prefixes are a very straightforward and powerful technology and I am excited to bring it into the PodCards product as a way to close the loop on podcast marketing analytics.

With conversion analytics, PodCards is even more indispensable for podcasters and podcast marketers

To get started with measuring conversions, simply head over to the settings section of the app and grab your unique PodCard prefix url. Nearly every major podcast hosting provider supports prefixes so just follow the detailed instructions for your host and PodCards will start collecting data. Next time you share your PodCard and you convert a listener, you'll see it right there in the conversions section of your dashboard.

PodCards has released many features in the last year, but I am particularly excited about this one. With conversion analytics, PodCards is even more indispensable for podcasters and podcast marketers, and will give you unmatched insights into how people discover and engage with your show.
